What could be more astounding than to realize that you’re not who you think you are?! We are taught to believe in the story of our lives, but we have forgotten the Reality of our lives. We are asleep in the dream of separation. And it is a very convincing dream. Some of us are being awakened in the dream, remembering who we really are beyond name and form. Some of us are discovering the freedom inherent in our formless nature.

In any moment, we can be caught in our conditioned patterns or we can take a breath and “step back” and watch. We can become detectives, watching for the ways that we get caught. Every experience can be used as fuel for the fire of inner transformation. Even after we wake up to who we really are, our conditioning will still arise. We discover that the vastness that we are can include everything. There’s plenty of room for welcoming everything to arise, to be seen, felt, healed and released in love.

I know it can be frustrating to feel “awake” and “asleep,” “remembering” and “forgetting.” Living an awakened life is an on-going, ever-deepening process, in my experience. We need to be willing to accept our humanness and this process of evolution, as messy as it can be at times. There is perfection in the apparent imperfection, beyond the mind’s understanding.
